Extension of loan limits

Congress did not extend the loan limits despite efforts of the California Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. The loan limits of $729,750 expired ion September 30, 2011 and the current limit for a conforming loan is $625,500. Any amount higher than that will be a jumbo loan with a higher interest rate and higher down payment. This will make it more difficult for buyers to qualify for luxury homes.
